Thanks, Aaron. Much more to come for Iceland from me from mountains from various part of the country including their tallest peak, another with 3000 foot almost-sheer sides, etc. Wish I could have done more but that'll be another trip..............
Now you'll pass me up for sure. There's no way I'm going to submit eight pages of material to SP, so it's a done deal. (*sigh*) Finally! The Ivory Tower is yours!
Good page and and a good trip. Thanks for the info on the Ð and the "p". I suppose that Scandinavia has had a big influence on English. Never knew about drowing pools and hope the islamists don't pick up on it.
One interesting note was that the Icelandic word for "little" is "litla". So it's a common word that is heard alot on the radio. I could have sworn I kept hearing them talk about Hitler until I figured out what it was. I thought the country was going nazi or something for a while. So, as much as the language is different to look at, it's even harder to understand it when it's spoken. Great place though, and great people.
Thanks for the vote!

Getting to Iceland is up to you individually although I can tell you that Icelandair flies to Reykjavik from 5 US cities: Minneapolis, New York, Boston, Baltimore and Orlando as well as most major European cities.
Icelandair now has direct flights to and from Denver as well. Just in case you were interested.

Untitled CommentI warmly welcome the first Iceland page! Now it's also time for someone to post other mountains, like for example the highest one - Hvannadalsnukur.

Untitled CommentThanks for the vote. I'm already on the others. I also climbed the following while I was there and will put these pages up as soon as possible:
Haalda (the one in Landmannalaugur)
Hvannadalshnukur (got close but turned back just short of summit due to high winds and rain)
Klifatindur
Herdubreid
Sulur
Bondi
Pratlikkar
