I...have a pal who has lived everywhere I would love to go: Pacific Northwest, Alaska, Colorado. But he never goes hiking. Never! Since he moved to Colorado (from Alaska) the one single place he has been walking is Garden of the Gods, and I strongly suspect it's only because there's a parking lot in it.

Yeah, I know it's "different strokes for different folks" and all, but - I could not imagine living the places your buddy has lived, and not falling under that spell to head into the hills!
You know that if you ever visit Colorado, my husband and I are more than happy to take you up in the mountains for a day - or just have supper. Door's open!

Re: I...Carole and I keep flirting with the idea of visiting Colorado so that I can climb at least one 14er (but not Carole, because she camps and kayaks, but doesn't hike/scramble). If we head out we'll definitely let you guys know!
