High Dune
I absolutely loved this. Melissa and I had so much fun hiking to the top of the dune and playing in the sand. Also, we were there early morning and the scenery of this park was just stunning!

Awesome hike with the kids
Perfect day, not too cool or too warm. My kids, 12 and 9, used their sand sleds periodically on the way up. My daughter took off her shoes toward the summit. Amazing views from the top. We all joined her on the way down, barefoot. That was a major improvement.

Sand snowboarding
I couldn't get my lazy buddy to climb to the top so I had to settle for about half way up...snowboarded the dunes back down.

an amazing place
This place is simply amazing and I got a ton of great photos. Well worth walking up to the summit.
Needed something to do on a rest day besides Royal Gorge so I hit the dunes again. First time I was up on High Dune was in 2011; this time the wind was blowing hard and fast, making me wish I had brought goggles. By the time I hit the flat and looked behind me it was hard to tell where I had been. I'm sure that in an hour all my footprints ceased to exist.

The plan was to climb Ouray Peak today, but the kids had such a good time at the Sand Dunes that they wanted to stay there. We actually ended up climbing High Dune. It sure was a lot faster and easier to come down than it was to go up. After climbing the dune we quickly went down, but the kids wanted to climb another dune and run down, so I let them do so while I watched.

High Dune, fun hike!
Hiked with Karina and Boris. One of my best trips ever. We spent a night at the campground and hiked up to High Dune the following day. We have more fun with the sled on the way down to the stream.

Fun walk up
Climbed up on a windy and cloudy day. Very pleasant. Unique experience to be on top of a sand dune.

Great Workout!
Sludged up the cold morning sand to be the second to summit (behind Eleutheros). Spent a little while conversing with a family at the top (those kids had way too much energy!). Headed back just as the sand started to get hot. Beautiful views of the Sangres all around!
