memoriesWhen I was growing up just down the road from there, all that was DuPont property, my Dad worked at the plant and so we had access. I used to nervously wade across the top of the falls to go fishing. I also caught a lot of fish there at the bottom. I am glad it is public, but I do miss the days of having the whole area to ourselves and not seeing a soul.

Re: memoriesThanks for the comment. I bet the area has sure changed since you lived there. You're right about the solitude, or lack thereof. Rarely are you by yourself when you visit, most days someone is crawling around the face of the falls. Still, I am gald to see how well the area has been preserved.

Re: memoriesYeah Its better than the housing development they were going to put in there, we have more than enough of those in these Mts. In your shot it looks like more than the normal flow of water.

Re: memoriesYeah, it is quite a bit higher than normal. I went in late June '05 after a couple heavy days of rain, I think Asheville had recieved over 4 inches. I couldn't get any closer to the base than this due to the intense spray.
