Took a couple mile hike up the south part of the AT. Not a bad little hike.

App Trail again!  Sucess!

We decided to hike the 1.5 mile section on the A.T. from the small parking area south of the park office. Also, this way we could save the $20 from driving into the park. It was our seventh state we've had to use a portion of the Appalachian Trail for highpointing purposes. Also, how insanely gaudy was the actual monument at Jersey's HP! Whoa, it looked like the Washington Monument. It was neat being able to see it miles in the distance though...............for us, STATE HP #19!

Better than expected  Sucess!

I wasn't sure what to expect but got a decent workout between the hike up and the obelisk stairs in pretty good heat. Inadvertently scaled a rock face leading to the summit when I lost the trail. Well done, NJ.

SHP #21  Sucess!

I almost -- ALMOST -- considered taking the easy way out by driving to the summit, due to a mangled foot from Mt. Marcy the day prior. Then I found out it was $20/car. SCREW. THAT.

Still took the easy way out; parked across the road and ninja'd past the booth, walking the paved road to the summit.

I feel guilty, and yet I do not; it would not have been a challenging ascent anyway, thus I am signing the log.

Holiday Hike  Sucess!

Drove the necessary 3 hours from my Voluntown Ct. to bag what was my third highpoint for 2011. Took the AT trailhead across Route 23 all the way to the summit. I was on the summit just around sunrise so it was a very nice view!!

From Mountain Rd  Sucess!

Swam up this mountain on deserted trails during Tropical Storm Lee. It's a very pretty walk which you approach through beautiful farm country. Great leg stretcher on a drive down the east coast.

SHP #9  Sucess!

I hit this one and Connecticut on the same day. I have been wanting to hit this one for months but I wanted to wait until the tower was open. Not really a hike, but nice to see so many families out doing things together.

Towering View  Sucess!

On the way to Bethel, NY, for that night's Phish show, so just did the actual access road route starting from across the park entrance. Was a pretty good walk on a hot day - the coolest part was I didn't know you could go inside the obelisk and take the stairs (lots and lots!) to near the very top. Highly recommended for a family day - there's a beach at the state park too.
