"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

Hiked up via the AT from near the visitor center. Took us (with a 4 year old) about 2 hours round trip. Very impressive summit monument.

With Helena, hot and muggy but very nice views and an interesting monument.

Drove up from the Jersey shore. Nice views and surprisingly higher than the surrounding terrain.
TrailtrekerNJ - May 18, 2010 5:40 pm Date Climbed: Apr 30, 2010Re-visit to claim HP
This was a re-visit to claim the high point. Living in NJ I have visited and hiked this park on numerous occasions. However I can not find any pictures from the past to document/prove my summit. I have old post cards, an old banner and an old patch purchased from the environmental center, but no pictures right now. I will find them! Any ways this also proved that I enjoyed the winter hibernation toooooo much:( I had to stop once/twice/three times to catch my breath as we ascended some portions. So its off to the gym to get the cardio going again and prepare for Mt. Marcy.
campthesummit - Apr 18, 2010 9:36 pm Date Climbed: Apr 18, 2010End to a rainy weekend
Drove up here after a rainy weekend in the Berkshires. skies were clearing which made for a beautiful view, but it was way windy.

NJTripper - Mar 6, 2010 11:40 pm Date Climbed: Jan 20, 2007Veeery cold day....
Lesson learned... Camelbacks don't work very well in sub-freezing temps!
Tbacon251 - Aug 1, 2009 6:05 pm Date Climbed: Jul 30, 2009Got NJ!
Reached the high point at 8:30 am on July 30, 2009. I forgot the Highpointers convention was going on. The tower was open so my daughter and I climbed to the top. It was a bit foggy due to the rain/storms that went through the night before. Nice area and park. Would like to go back to spend some more time.
Ilafan - Jul 12, 2009 4:36 pm Date Climbed: Jul 9, 2009LOVED IT!
After driving through endless miles of New Jersey suburbia and traffic lights, this state park was a treat! Quiet and peaceful with nice views and a great cool wind. LOVED IT!

My 9-year old daughter Vanessa and I started our highpoint quest in September 1985, going to Vermont, New Jersey, and Delaware. 24 years later I completed #49, and have no intent to go to Alasaka.
Hotoven - Apr 20, 2009 10:02 am Date Climbed: Jan 10, 2009Super Cold, but fun!
Climbed this in lots of snow, and right after a ice storm. So branches of shrubs were hanging over the trail, making hiking very hard. It was around -12 with the wind chill, but still a great hike with a clear view!
mthomas - Apr 15, 2009 8:07 am Date Climbed: Nov 28, 2003Not quite a hike...
Drove from Connecticut after Thanksgiving to tag this easy highpoint. At least to make it more interesting, it was raining hard, so I climbed this in full-on autumn conditions...

grunt - Mar 28, 2009 7:35 pm Date Climbed: Mar 27, 2009windy
Drove over from Scranton, PA for my 6th state highpoint. It was very windy and quite cold up top. We couldn't believe how few people were there - we only saw 5 other visitors. We only hiked from the parking lot, but we did take a nice little hike around the swamp in the park.
bricewilson - Mar 15, 2009 9:58 am Date Climbed: Sep 13, 2008Concession stand
Nice quick side trip during a long run on the AT. Bought two grilled cheese sandwiches and filled water bottles at the concession stand.

It was rather windy when we got up there. No obelisk ascent, as it was closed for winter. But not bad looking for a highpoint!
Rockscaler - Feb 3, 2009 5:59 pmGood ole' Jersey
Not exactly a HIKE up! lol! More of a walk.....
silversummit - Jan 5, 2009 10:32 pmCame through here years ago
on my way to Bear Mountain with a group of backpackers in '69, '70 and '71. It was always hot and about to rain!
mlandau3 - Oct 13, 2008 5:02 pm Date Climbed: Oct 5, 2008Surprisingly Nice
I didn't even know that New Jersey had a highpoint (lol). The views were a great surprise.
