SHP #21
I almost -- ALMOST -- considered taking the easy way out by driving to the summit, due to a mangled foot from Mt. Marcy the day prior. Then I found out it was $20/car. SCREW. THAT.
Still took the easy way out; parked across the road and ninja'd past the booth, walking the paved road to the summit.
I feel guilty, and yet I do not; it would not have been a challenging ascent anyway, thus I am signing the log.

Nice hike up from Mountain Road on the AT. Windy at the top, but no snow anywhere.

Holiday Hike
Drove the necessary 3 hours from my Voluntown Ct. to bag what was my third highpoint for 2011. Took the AT trailhead across Route 23 all the way to the summit. I was on the summit just around sunrise so it was a very nice view!!

Nice view
Surprisingly nice view and scenery in this park and the drive to it. 4 of 5 Northeast highpoints in one trip.

From Mountain Rd
Swam up this mountain on deserted trails during Tropical Storm Lee. It's a very pretty walk which you approach through beautiful farm country. Great leg stretcher on a drive down the east coast.

I hit this one and Connecticut on the same day. I have been wanting to hit this one for months but I wanted to wait until the tower was open. Not really a hike, but nice to see so many families out doing things together.

Towering View
On the way to Bethel, NY, for that night's Phish show, so just did the actual access road route starting from across the park entrance. Was a pretty good walk on a hot day - the coolest part was I didn't know you could go inside the obelisk and take the stairs (lots and lots!) to near the very top. Highly recommended for a family day - there's a beach at the state park too.

High Point Monument Trail
Very nice hike, but gloomy when nothing is in season.
Easy hike from the parking lot - a nice stopoff on our drive back from visiting NYC. Really nice views of the Delaware River valley. HP#18

Ice on the AT
Hiked with my wife and my friend Steve on the AT from Mountain Road to the very windy and cold summit. We enjoyed views of ice falls and an icy creek along the trail. HP34
With Helena, hot and muggy but very nice views and an interesting monument.

Re-visit to claim HP
This was a re-visit to claim the high point. Living in NJ I have visited and hiked this park on numerous occasions. However I can not find any pictures from the past to document/prove my summit. I have old post cards, an old banner and an old patch purchased from the environmental center, but no pictures right now. I will find them! Any ways this also proved that I enjoyed the winter hibernation toooooo much:( I had to stop once/twice/three times to catch my breath as we ascended some portions. So its off to the gym to get the cardio going again and prepare for Mt. Marcy.
