Fantastic Summer  Sucess!

What a phenomenal hike. Took 6 days with a nero at Guitar to acclimatize, which paid off when we literally ran the last 200 feet to the summit with full packs and felt great!

Weather!  Sucess!

Weather not the best. Totally worth it.

Side trip to Mt. Kaweah pretty awesome too... 6 days total.

Must do for alpine scenery  Sucess!

Penelope May-Smrz and I hiked the HST from Crescent Meadow to Junction Meadow and turned NW over Colby Pass. We have been to Whitney so many times over the years that we were looking for something a bit different. So went over Colby Pass and down to Roaring River RS, then up over Silliman Pass and back to Lodgepole. The trip was 92+ miles and took us 9 days. The granite formations along the way, the scenery, no snow at 12,000', meadows full of flowers, deer and other animals and not too many mosquitos made it a memorable outing. Virtually no people along the way. Hiked this way, the trip avoids Mt Whitney completely and allows one to return to Lodgepole. No transportation issues, a huge plus.
