Hike timp from Aspen...

Hike timp from Aspen campground on a quiet day and you will see mountain goats. As you can tell from my photo submissions, wildlife is my favorite part of the hike. This photo was shot on labor day 2004, the fall colors are beginning to show on the mountain. These two goats were amazing as they made their way around the cliff.

Outstanding shot

I just created a panel of your goat pics on my Mt. Timp page. When did you start observing them? Perhaps you could write up a paragraph or so about your experiences and I could add that to the page.

Let me know what you think. Any pics of moose on Mt. Timp?

Re: Outstanding shot

Dean,

I climbed Timp for the first time in June of this year. The hike to the summit was wonderful but I really was most impressed with the natural beauty I found in the water, flowers and wildlife of the plateau at the Emerald lake elevation. I have hiked the same trail up from Aspen grove 4 times since. The goats did not seem intimidated by my presence.

I have some pix of a bull moose. They are more difficult to find , but then I have not specifically gone to find them and have generally hiked up the steep part of the trail in the early morning dark. The moose habitat would be in the lower reaches of the trail in the aspens near the water. I will find a good pix and post it.

I would be happy to post another pix from one of my hikes and write a paragraph. Thanks for the suggestion.
