Hohe Gaisl (Croda Rossa d'Ampezzo), 3146 m

Hohe Gaisl (Croda Rossa d'Ampezzo)is the highest peak of the Pragser Dolmites (Dolomiti di Braies). It could be arguably considered as a hardest threethousander in the Dolomites. The normal ascent is awfully long (7 hours up and 6 hours dawn) and technically difficult (UIAA III+ with one passage of IV-). It is probably the least climbed summit exceeding the 3000 m in the Dolomites

Re: Which a wall!

Thanks for kind comments, Vlado. In addition to the long and technically difficult ascent, Hohe Gaisl offers a lot of very friable rock. It has probably less than 10 climbers on its summit anually.

Great view.

I was looking to Croda Rossa some days ago,in last days of holydays, but did'n know it is so difficult.
I hope to arrive over there a day.
Ciao
