Hoher Sonnblick seen from NW

Hoher Sonnblick (3.106 m) from a less known side, from north-west - looking more impressive, than many of the "famous" views. Seen while descending Hocharn (3.254 m), the highest summit of the Goldberg group. The peak in the background is Goldbergspitze (3.072 m), giving the Goldberg group its name. 22nd of July 2007 by Herbert

Very impressive!

Strange that this scene is not photographed more by others.

Re: Very impressive!

I thought the same thing. For me it was more or less the first time seeing Sonnblick like this, giving me a completely different impression.

Via the approach from Heiligenblut you see just the upper part of Sonnblick, giving you the impression, it's more a "hill" with glacier.

I guess the reason is, because the traverse of Hocharn and Goldzechkopf is less frequented (more difficult with climbing sections, no hut nearby - only the bivouac etc.).
From the bivouac in the morning until reaching the Sonnblick-route on Kleine Fleiss glacier we met just 1 (!) climber during the whole day (we had both summits completely for ourselves). Back on the Sonnblick route we met app. 20 people within an hour...

Cheers,
Herbert
