It was very nice sunny day until me and my friend reached the summit. During the descent wind has grown so much one was not able to stand or to walk on the marked path starting down from the ombrometer under the Rojacher Hütte. We had to climb down by free terrain in order to get cover before very strong wind.
On the way from Neubau to Bucheben we have chosen longer way leading towards Filzenalm and Seealm - it was really beautiful path through woods.

Skitour from Ammererhof (Kolm Saigurn). We didn't had the best skiing conditions (wind pressed snow) but the views were amazing. A pretty long tour to a beautiful summit.

Hoher Sonnblick
I was actually three times successful, also weatherwise, on the Hoher Sonnblick. The date indicated was the first time, then I was up there again in 2000 and also in 2006. A great peak and also a spectacular way of access, which, in my opinion, should not be underestimated, though. One needs to have a good steadiness and not be afraid of heights, especially between the Rojacher hut and the summit.

Route Climbed: Kolm Saigurn - Naturfreundenhaus - Rojacherhuette - Zittelhaus Date Climbed: July 2003
A nice route for all the day. Start at parking Lenzanger, later a short trip by bus, to Kolm Saigurn (the road to Kolm Saigurn is open for public transport and inhabitants only). The route begins near the hut, later walk-up thourgh the wood and meadows, to Naturfreundenhaus-Neubau. Later around the mountain up to Rojacherhuette and light climbing to the summit with the hut Zittelhaus. Descent on the same route, all the way (ascent and descent) takes 9-10 hours.

We (my girlfriend Irene and me) had perfect weather conditions. We took the ascent via the Zirmsee, which reminded me of the "Laguna del Inca" in Portillo (Chile). Nice view to Grossglockner during most part of the ascent. Additionally we had perfect conditions at the glacier, too - no need for crampons. Strange feeling to have a hut / restaurant directly located on top of a mountain (included in the facilities of Zittelhaus), but they serve great stuff after the glacier walk.

I've been three times on Sonnblick yet:
August 20th 1984: alone on a 3-week hiking trip through the Tauern. From Duisburger hut I climbed Schareck, descended to Niedersachsenhaus and Naturfreundehaus Neubau and had a final 1000 m-ascent to Zittel house. It was a long day. Together with a stranger I climbed Goldbergspitze in addition. After suffering many bad weather the days before I enjoyed a clear morning in front of the Zittelhaus before proceeding to the Hocharn
July 23rd 1989: On a 3-days round trip with some members of our alpine club. We came from Niedersachsenhaus. There was rain in the morning so we decided not to go to Schareck via Proellweg first but went directly to Neubau. Then weather improved and we climbed Schareck via Niedere Scharte and Herzog Ernst summit and back. When crossing Vogelmaier-Ochsenkarkees glacier we got into a thunderstrom. The little Rojacher hut provided some shelter and after the shower we climbed the last 400 m along the ridge to the summit and the Zittel house.
June 9th 1996: We had to carry the ski from Kolm Saigurn far above the Neubau house unless we could use them. We climbed over Vogelmaier-Ochsenkarkees glacier to Kleine Fleiss-Scharte pass (between Sonnblick and Goldbergspitze) and to the summit where we stayed the night in the winter room (Zittel house is not guided in winter season, the guys at meteo station only sell some drinks). The next morning we could sleep long because we had to wait for the snow to soften. Started downhill about 10,30 with a direct and very steep section to the lower part of the glacier. Some creek couloirs filled with snow let us use skis down to the tree line.
Nice climb, rather easy but rather long (couple of hours, don't really remember the exact time.) It offered a pretty good view of the GroBglockner. Don't really know which route we took, there's just a path that leads upstairs... no difficulties actually.
