via Notch Mtn and Halo Ridge
Climbed the north ridge of Notch, went through the Notch over to Halo ridge, then to the summit. Descended North Ridge. Only 12 miles, but it felt more like 20. 6200 feet of gain. Just enough snow to make the talus scrambling very annoying. Long day, just short of 12 hours.

Crying into the Bowl of Tears
I hiked this mountain on the 6th anniversary of my husband's death... I found this mountain to be a very healing place.

Girls Day Out
I led a group of my fiancee, Amy, and 8 of her girlfriends up the Standard Route of Holy Cross. Eveyone made the summit and back down on a great day! My 4th ascent of the peak.

Halo Ridge
What a long day via the Halo Ridge. Topped out on Point 13,831 and then got Holy Cross. Mother nature reminded us of how the weather can be in the fall. Snowed almost all day.

A Good One!
This was one of my two favorites from my journey to Colorado. I really wanted to try the Halo Ridge route but decided against it since I was solo. The standard route was really fun anyhow and I spent the first night next to a small waterfall down in the cross creek basin. See my Trip Report about doing seven 14ers in eight days.

Standard route
Single day hike from Halfmoon pass TH.Hiked with a well acclimatized friend. He was on a schedule,so it was keep up with him or bust.I made it to the end of the ridge and saw him running back down from the top.Frustrating to get that close.Met some nice dudes who said they had gotten caught in a whiteout the year before.Hope they did it-I will be back next year!

Via Halo Ridge and Fall Creek Drainage Varia
This route turned out to be a lot harder and longer than we anticipated. Be sure to read the whole page describing this route if you plan to take it. We camped at Lake Constantine and summitted the mountain the following day. It took us 11 hours round trip (back to Lake Constantine), and it was trailless bouldering almost the whole time. We returned by dropping into the upper Tuhare Lake drainage basin--I preferred this way over the route going up. We were under-prepared, but we made it back just before dark. For more of my comments on this route, see the Climber's Log on the "Halo Ridge and Fall Creek Drainage Varia" route page.

Via Halfmoon Pass
A very long day that included Holy Cross Ridge and the other points.
Hiked with Stephanie, Keith and Colleen.
Marginal weather but we managed to miss all the rain!
Great weather!!!...beautiful blue skies made for a perfect summit via the standard north ridge route. Literally spent one second on top because my "greatest friend", chip the dog decided he couldn't make the last few hundred feet..guess he got cold paws, no worries as he proved a great partner! A great mountain definitely! I was very surprised how easy the large elevation gains were stepped away. This mountain proved a real confidence builder, thanks mount holy cross!

Dayhike via Standard North Ridge Route
This is just a fantastic mountain, I was totally taken with it. Yes, the hike back up to Half Moon Pass at the end of a long day was a test of wills, but we got through it. I slept like a baby the night after this hike - I don't think I even moved for 8 hours straight. Partner: Jill.
Went up Holy Cross via the Halo Ridge and came back down (and quite a bit of up) the standard route. The weather and view were beautiful.

Too much rain
We hiked into the East Cross Creek area and set up a camp. It stared raining just before we set up. Two days of rain followed. On the 3rd day the weather broke in the AM so we went for it. The creek was too high so we had to bushwack to the left to find a way to cross. The 'skeeters were ferocious. We got to the top of the snowfield, maybe a half mile from the summit, and the nasty weather came back in. It rained for another full day, and the summit was in white out. SO CLOSE! So we headed for a dry, warm motel. We climbed Democrat, Lincoln, Cameron, and Bross later in the week.

A complete newbie set up for failure
Took a trip to Colorado to try out my first 14er. I hauled a 50lb pack to 12.5k (standard ridge route) and quit as I was tired and it was already 1pm. I feared leaving my rented gear at the campsite at the base of Holy Cross and decided to bring it with me thinking I could do it with the weight. I was way wrong and I was stupid for even trying. I never made that mistake again. It still was absolutely gorgeous and it really overshadowed any peaks I had climbed in the East. Amazing!

North Ridge
Beautiful hike, though a somewhat strenuous hike up Halfmoon Pass with the backpacking pack. We had some issues with bugs, especially when we were back down by the creek setting up camp, but still a great weekend!
