I like how the title is not an exaggeration. The fire part of course not being liked. ;-)

Smoke

We were about 230 miles south of Mount Hood at Crater Lake NP in August 2015. Very smokey. Fires were burning along the NW rim of the crater itself. Hiking to the summit of Mount Scott got us nearly above the smoke, but not quite.
Local views were stunning, but we were still disappointed by the lack of extensiveness due to smoke.
