They do it different in Ukraine
The previous day I took the train down from Lviv all the way to Vorokhta. It cost about $1! I thought I'd have the mountain more or less to myself. After all, it was a rainy Thursday in October. Amazingly, there were at least 200 people on the trail, most of whom made the summit, thanks to a corporate outing from a retail chain that brought 170 people! It was icy and windy on top so I didn't stick around long. When I got to the bottom, I even caught a ride in the van with the corporate leadership team and shared their celebratory cheers.
Then I was off towards Moldova.

blue route
A very nice hike, with a bit of snow. Unspoilt nature all around. I hopeit will stay that way! Many people do climb the peak.
September 1990, on a trip to Czarnohora and Gorgany. Grotty weather throughout the trip, we still climbed Hoverla and Pietros however. It was the time of the collapse of USSR and Ukraine's regained independence, on the way back to Poland we stopped in Lviv and watched the dismantling of Lenin's monument.

2005 Hoverla ascent
Great final of a 3-day solo Chornohora Range traverse, started from Dzembronia village with bivouacs under Smotrec Peak and upon Niesamovite Lake ,wonderful adventure, unfortunately I was a few moments late to catch clear summit panorama from Hoverla, descent to Kozmeschyk Base in Lazeschyna Valley .

Too bad there's so much garbage up there...somebody needs to teach people some basic rules about behaving properly in the mountains.

Ukraine's country highpointA nice hike despite foul weather, extreme cold at the summit and obscured views. We genuinely enjoyed our stay in this part of Ukraine.

Winter ascentFrom Kozmeschik. If the summer climbing Goverla - is an easy walk, the winter can be a real extreme.
