Huascarán Norte from high on Huascarán Sur

Huascarán Norte from high on Huascarán Sur

I estimate that this is from around 6600m - almost as high as Norte already! 8 August 2011.

Gorgeous shot...

Huascaran N & S are among my favorite peaks. You've done a great job of captured a very unusual view of Norte here...

Thanks for sharing.

Merry Christmas,

Big Lew

Re: Gorgeous shot...

Thanks Lew,

As you can see, it was a great day for it. As long as the summits are free from clouds, this is what most people that climb Sur will see. Even if you forget to look back during the climb, you can't miss it, you'll look at Norte for a long time on the descent of Sur.
I suppose that the biggest difference from the normal view is that most climbers have an alpine start to try to be on the summit early in the morning, hence the light will be different. I started very late instead.

Merry Christmas, Rob
