Started up at 5:10AM, reached an empty summit at 7:56AM. Perfect weather and awesome views. Stayed about 20 mins then back to the car by 10:38AM with several people heading up. My second summit in as many days and my 29th 14'er.....sweet!
After reading HokieJim's trail report we decided to use the same route and had a great hike bagging 2 summits in one day! A few threatening clouds came, went and came again but we had a good 30-45 minutes at the summit and got to our cars just before the rain came! Awesome views.
Ascended Brown's Peak first via the Lulu Gulch trail, traversed over to Huron, and descended the standard route. Snow conditions allowed for a nice 1000' glissade down the NW face!
Hiked the NW slopes with my pops, mom, and another good friend's dad. Great day, beautiful weather.
Up and down really quick. Fun little hike. Lots of gorgeous flowers to be seen.
Beautiful views throughout the hike, especially those of The Three Apostles. Great trail, but the snow in the basin was a nightmare on the descent with lots and lots of postholing. Beyond that, Huron was a blast!
On a repeat summit, we took to our adventurous side & loop hiked both Browns & Huron. Using our crampons, we climbed a fun 25-30 degree coulier up to Browns (in pure solitude), traversed the ridge to Huron, caught a couple of glissades down Huron's face with our axes, then donned our snowshoes to prevent a dreadful posthole nightmare accross the valley headed back down the standard route. THIS route is the way to go!!!
What a delightful hike! I wish I could return up there with my new camera. The slideshow from our hike up there in the summer of 2003 is here: Huron Peak hike
More scenic than other Sawatch peaks. Maybe the only Sawatch 14er Id consider doing again.
Beautiful hike...made the summit this morning, presumably the first one on the mountain today (no one else had signed the register). Only one other hiker behind me, then a rainstorm with some hail thrown in for good measure on the descent.
First climb in the Sawatch. Awesome views!!
From the Winfield 4WD TH. The most FUN mountain I've climbed for a while! Great trail w/nice switchbacks. A good one to get started on, for sure. NO WORRIES here! Just enjoy the scenery. Was with Brandon Fuller. Started at 6am, back to Golden for lunch...nice.
Great peak. Shortest 14er yet.
The easy traverse made for an awesome loop hike. The trudge out in the hail/rain storm was an exciting finish to an otherwise pleasant day.
This hike is short enough to take your time and enjoy the high mountain tundra. The perfect weather made Huron my favorite 14er so far.
With Jeff Edmonds and Jim McClain! Nice Snow Great view.
That road is rough!!! Climbed main trail. No technical difficulties and there were a lot of people on the route.
Nice hike. Tundra was starting to turn that wonderful red color.
Beautiful hike on a great trail with more switchbacks than I'd ever seen before. The high alpine meadow on the route is one of the nicest places I've encountered on any hike.
Pure solitude and fresh snow with a friend from Texas. Absolutely stunning views of the Three Apostles and got to see my first stoat!
