A truly fine mountain in a beautiful part of Idaho. The wildflowers were excelllent in the upper basins and this was a very enjoyable day with Bob and Mike (mfox, see his report below). Bob and I went on to do the Camas County highpoint, Pk 10337 the following day and found this peak to be one of the best viewpoints I have been to in Idaho. This hike is a biggie with over 5000 feet of elevation gained and a good 12 miles for the day. Near the top we found a geocache and this is the highest one I've found so far and it a great way to add some interest to a hike. The top 2200 feet is pretty much a rock pile but you can lose elevation quickly if you find the right lines. Awesome views, awesome peak. Well worth the effort.

Great summer day for summiting Hyndman Peak! Wildflowers were everywhere from the start of the trail and only got better the higher I went. A few storms moved in around 2 PM but one of the better hikes in Idaho!

Route Climbed: East, ridge from saddle between Hyndman and Cobb Date Climbed: July 2002  Sucess!

One of the most beautiful approaches anywhere, great views in all directions. Late spring trips are the best while the wild flowers are in bloom. Been there three times and plan on going back. Boots with good ankle support advisable, lots of loose rock once you go for the summit.

A beautiful mountain in an outstanding region! I recommend shortening your day greatly by bicycling the first few miles, it sure makes coming down a lot more enjoyable. And once above 11,000 in the boulder hopping of the east ridge, look for the rare Mountain Sorrel plant. Its difficult to find but its leaves taste just like apple, its amazing.

Turned back because of bad weather very near summit (heart breakingly close). It was a good trip anyway.

Great views of Sun Valley, and the Lost River Range. Great mix of climbing variety. Hope to ascend again with snowshoes, more snow, and my skis. Summer ascent would be a great hike/scramble with plenty of great scenery (lakes, other mountains, & wildlife)

Excellent day for climbing - sunny, mild, and few others on the trail. Reached the summit around noon and noticed a group of climbers on the summit of Old Hyndman. Ate a nice lunch and completed the trip in about 8.5 hours. I believe I was the only one to summit that day. Awesome climb!

3 of us climbed the peak from Hyndman - Old Hyndman saddle on a cool, clear fall day. Excellent climb!
