Return To "Red Sector A"

Here comes the return of the red! This is the Flying Butress atop Mitten Ridge, as seen from the Wilson Canyon Trail near Sedona, Arizona. And please, don't let the red fool you !!! Photo of the day ? April Fool's Day ? What did you call me ??? Scary thought - let's get serious, for crying out loud! Two-hundred-and-seventy-five-million years ago, GREAT sand dunes were formed around Sedona as the sands of quartz, feldspar and other eroded bits of the Ancestral Rockies were blown in from the northeast across the Hermit Shale Formation. Near the end of the Age of the Amphibians, this part of the world was a VAST, desolate desert, devoid of terrestrial life forms. In appearance, this area probably resembled the present day Sahara Desert. April 1, 2009
