Rider on the Storm

Rider on the Storm

About one hour before a 'hellacious' monsoon thunderstorm, a lone Palmer's Agave blooms approximately 5 miles SE of Payson, Arizona. Because the 'flower stalk' on these things is close to 20-feet tall, a sudden breeze can make the stalk wobble back & forth like a flexible pole made out of rubber. "Weebles wobble, but they don't fall down!!" The summit of 5,085 ft Stewart Peak is seen (to the left) in this picture. July 13, 2008
