Solo Ski, N.F. true east face of Notchtop, RMNP

Solo Ski, N.F. true east face of Notchtop, RMNP

This is a sick ski line, ~55dg or so for the top portion of skiing, wich is larger than it looks in this picture, The snow Was a little rotten at the bottom of that top feild,, making tooling around to find an anchor a little sketchy. The rap turned out to be a 60m nearly vertical, wich i did in one rap with a 60m and a 60m 3mil pull cord,( a massive chunk of cornice fell as i was rapping, fourtunatly the debris took a differant path than me), then some skiing on rotten snow down to the second rap, Eli had said this could probally be hucked, but i wasent feeling it. I found some old anchors in rock rapped 10m, which turned out to be overhanging, ended up in a moat, then skiied all the way down on sweet corn. Another Picture of route

E face Ntop

I have skied this line three times and only needed to rappel once. I looks like you were there pretty late in the year from the photo and the cornice incident. I have never been on it later then the first week of may because of the distinct E aspect. Earlier in the year that rock band will get down to 10-15' and can totally be hopped, the time I rapped was just due to bullet hard surface conditions. The rock band is not really that vertical so you do need to hit it with a little speed to clear the sharks but, you have that huge apron to shut it down. Ah, Colorado mini golf- we go so far, for so little.
