Escalante River

Escalante River

Crossing the freezing Escalante River (with the occasional iced banks). The water is so sediment-laden that you cannot tell how deep it is... Taken March 14, 2008.

Another cool picture,

Yes, I have a feeling that Utah will be
facing a lot of sediment-laden run-off
and possible flooding when the snow begins
to melt. You guys must be 'climatized' to
this type of activity. I don't think I
would have lasted very long in that water.

Re: Another cool picture,

Well, we weren't particularly 'climatized' to the freezing water, but everyone keep following me and the GPS... The trail crossed the river about five times, and we figured it would be better than bushwhacking the entire way. It was definitely intense but at the same time kind of rejuvenating in a strange way...
