Passed through on my way to Guyot and Old Black. This was a great ridge line on the AT.
I as surprised to find, upon hiking up from Cosby and working my way up through the trees of Inadu Knob, to find a dozen tents at the summit! The tents, including a massive cook tent surrounded by bear wire, belonged to the Rocky Top club doing trail maintenance on the AT. A big Thank You to these guys!
A long day hike. Started at Cosby, hiked Gabes Mountain Trail to Maddron Bald Trail to Snake Den Ridge to AT. From the AT I headed south then bushwacked to what I sincerely believe to be the actual summit of Inadu Knob. Descended via Snake Den Ridge.
Approached from Low Gap and Cosby Knob, great fall hike, day temps in high 40s.
My wife Jen and I climbed Inadu on ther way to Tricorner Knob from Cosby via the Snake Den Trail>>BRUTAL!!!!!
side trip during AT thru hike in '76
Took in the views with the flight wreakage all over the place.
Good winter trip and saw the F-4 wreckage on the ridge. Great views and temperatures in the teens and twenties.
This was a very tough, but rewarding hike. Hit the trail very late (1pm) and made the 16.4 mile round trip in 5 & 1/2 hours. Lots to see, and I wish I'd had more time to enjoy it all.
