Indio on summit of Cerro Plata

Indio on summit of Cerro Plata

This image is produced by kind permission of Michel and Sandra Lanniaux who own the Refugio San Bernardo in the Cordon del Plata. It is of Indio the Refugio dog who my friend Jon and I climbed San Bernardo with in February 2016. We had been told he had climbed Cerro Plata - and sure enough this photo is confirmation - copied from the following website owned by Michel and Sandra. http://www.alpes-andes-location.com/

Re: Dogs our best friends

Thanks Silvia - although I can't take any credit for it. What an incredible dog though! But I still think you getting your dogs up Monte Rosa more of an achievement - with all the glacier and the very steep finish from any direction (you should post some photos and better still a TR!!). Plata is just high and cold...

Re: Dogs our best friends

Thank you for considering, Mark, but I don't know if it's worth: it's a history spanning over 20 years ago, with old paper photos .... I have so little time and so many things to do, i'll see. Thanks again for your wonderful trip report, pictures and info!

Re: Dogs our best friends

Don't know if it is worth it? You climbing Monte Rosa with a pair of Huskies is an important piece of mountaineering history which I'm sure many aside from me would love to know about (and see some photos). Doesn't matter if paper photos (assuming you have access to a scanner). I have put lots of scanned old photos on SP and they have come out fairly well. Anyway - I will stop nagging you now! best wishes Mark
