Inner Peace in the Midst of Tumult

As I stood, braced with my axe spiked into the hard surface, I savoured an hour of nature at its wildest. The hurricane wind tore across the Col and slammed at my body, in waves that at times nearly sent me airborne. The air so thick, almost like a liquid. The icy surface picked up, smattering hard against my clothing as if I stood in a hail storm. Ahead, the wind tore up from the Valley de Teve, screaming like the engine of an F16 and sending vortices into the air, whilst white manes of wild horses surged beneath my feet. Just wild, wild, wild.

Neither was I cold, and neither did I want to leave, and as I stood enveloped by my clothing and hood which protected me from the tumult, I stood so close to my inner self (the real me, the real you). In such moments, if you have not already understood, now you will.

The experience of total detachment and contentment is something to savour. It is perhaps a little strange that one can experience it both in calm and storm. Yet in a storm, and where you can withstand it, you are filled with elemental power. Really, there is nothing that can surpass it.
