inside a lava tube

My son inside a lava tube. This is not a very good photo, but you can explore some of the lava tubes. It is good to bring a flashlight with you. Also, I remember being very cold during our visit to the part, It is much higher (nearly 4000 feet) and a lot cooler.

Fun with kids

When I took my kids into the lava tubes on the saddle road above Hilo, I remember all the questions: "Dad, um, if the volcano was starting to erupt again, scientists would know, right???"
