Quick up and back after work on a hot afternoon. Still in the mid 90's at 5:30 p.m. Views from the peak were quite nice as the sun was getting ready for a classic So Cal sunset.
The final peak of the loop, the summit register notepad was completely ruined.
Monte Cristo Peak, Iron #3, Round Top, Granite, Rabbit. The loop is probably easier this way than the opposite direction.
rabbit, granite, round top, iron
A loop hike including Iron # 3, Roundtop, Pacifico, Granite # 1, & Rabbit # 1. A little breeze helped to keep the temperature down a little. While the area is very dry and barren, the views are far-reaching.
Grabbed Iron #2, Iron#3 and Rabbit #1 today. A warm day, but finished up pretty quickly!
extremely windy day
nice views from the top over the Upper Tujunga Canyon.
Well, almost a drive up. Takes about 30 minutes RT from the road.
Part of a Little 4 loop with Bill Simpson's HPS group.
Did the Monte Cristo loop with an HPS group. This was the first peak of the day.
The last of 4 peaks. Rabbit, Granite, Round Top and Iron #3. Windy day, but beautiful.
With Rabbit, Granite, and Roundtop -- Coco the dog came as well.
Hiked up from Trail Canyon with my Mellie.
I've done the Iron, Rabbit, Roundtop, Granite loop twice. Once clockwise and once counter-clockwise. I also came up here a third time just to tag Iron.
Climbed this before sunrise on a hot day in 2005.
One of 13 peaks in the San Gabriels with Matthew that day. Got to Iron just before sunset. It was one of the weaker peaks in the area. Trip Report
Very steep and loose on this slope. I needed gaiters on my trail runners. The views are very nice.
