Slept at trailhead and woke up to see the sunrise high on the trail. Goodwin Lake looked like a idealistic place to camp around a lake if I got the chance.
Hiked with RDB. Beautiful approach past Goodwin Lake and amazing views of the Tetons from the summit. Easy hike with a trail all the way to the summit.
Nice snowy hike up Jackson Peak in early June. Took a dip in semi-frozen Goodwin Lake on way down-- cold!
Dodged rain pouring on Jackson and in the Tetons but luckily had some sun on the summit. Excellent views of the surrounding storms. Went up the north ridge but glissaded down into the basin to the west of the ridge and hit the old road back to the car. Rain hit us right as we got back to the car.
Living in Jackson a long time allowed me to ascend this one several times. Once from the ski cabin at the end of the winter; once from cutting off from the Turquoise Lake trail; once from Nowlin Peak area, and a few times straight up the north ridge. You'd think I liked this or something!?! A great little hometown hike.
Fun hike, with a little scrambling. I descended the south route. Hiked in the evening, great views from everywhere on the route.
Climbed with Andy, Ashley, Katie, and two dogs. A nice outing into the Gros Ventre after a whole summer in the Tetons. Nice, easy peak - huge, huge summit cairn!
Good view into the heart of the Gros Ventres.
Nice half day outings
Postholing trying to get to Goodwin Lk was very frustrating. Shortly after reaching lake area went up NE ridge. Got really fun from here on. Easy class 3 and knife-edge snow crest whole way to top. Very cool, and good views of Gros Ventres and Tetons. Fun.
up to Goodwin Lake. Alan, Scout, and I bushwacked the east slope and cut the standard ridge trail. We summitted separatedly because we didn't feel comfortable taking scout across the talus. Very easy day hike.
Perfect weather and a great view. Never did find the trail up the east slope, but it was still a fun day with Jackie and Scout.
Beautiful colors, powder on top
Climbed this peak with some buds from work, I think it was 1993, or 94. It was a great place to get away, so close to town.
Climbed this peak a dozen times. I love it every time!!!
Great views of the Tetons
Lots of snow still and lots of 4th of July skiers as well. The wildflowers on the way up were spectacular as you looked across them towards the Tetons. I've done quite a few hikes in the area and this one is not to be missed.
Climbed up via Curtis Canyon to Goodwin Lake. Snow covered the entire area before hitting the lake all the way until the peak, even on June 30th. The lake was still frozen over except for a few spots around the banks. I climbed my way up, glissaded my way back down and then took a dip in the ICE water of the lake all before the afternoon storms hit :) Great way to start the day!
A nice climb in nearly complete snow cover from the trail head. Cool cornices at the top and a nice view of the Tetons and the rest of the Gros Ventre Range.
I have hiked up to the town of Jackson's own peak on many occasions. You can drive close to the peak, so it can be a rather quick hike. I even went after work a couple of times. The view of the Tetons is incredible. The ski cabin is a great place. There is even some good rock climbing above Goodwin Lake.
