When did you guys do it? Ropeless? :)
Attempted the traverse last Friday (Aug 16). Made it from the "start" to Haeckel Col (took about 12 hours) before being caught in a lightening storm for a couple of hours (we hid under a boulder). When the storm let up a bit, we decided to bail. We soloed the entire ridge with two short raps near Darwin (in order to avoid downclimbing what looked like 5.9 dirt).
Yeah, thunderstorms were pretty wild on Saturday. We got caught up in one ourselves on the summit ridge of Tyndall not too far from you guys. Please post more pics from your trip if you have them. This is some great stuff!
This is breathtaking.
Now, i know you guys love doing this sort of thing, but you couldn't PAY me to be anywhere near where this guy is! I can't climb, and when I see this I know I wouldn't even if i could! But-congratulations to you and all of you who DO climb, because when you submit photos like this one we get a good chance to see what we otherwise wouldn't. I've hiked the range for 50 years, but have never had the views i find on this website! Thanks!!
This is one of the most intense pics I've seen. What side of the face are you on?
Mcdermott22--I've added this great image to the custom object Worth Another Look II. Let me know if that's a problem. -mark d.
Looks a little scary.
