Took seventy minutes to hike the 1.6 miles to the summit. Mildly icy, quite windy, and never above 30 degrees on an overcast day. Rime ice was coating everything at the summit. I went over to Big Jay afterward. Including the fifteen minutes spent at the summits it was a four hour and forty minute day.
Great and fun climb!
hiked, skied, AT ski, no lift summit ski
Ski bummed at Jay for five winters. Livin' the dream....
First peak going LT SOBO. Nice views and peaceful peak in the Summer.
Nice gondola ride to the top. 28 degrees with some rime ice on the summit.
I've skied every trail on the mountain!
Great day, lots of sun.
Terrible weather. Only people on the mountain. Even the ski area was closed for the day!
Passed over this peak on my Long Trail end-to-end.
One of my favorite memories along the Long Trail. We kept a steady, swift pace all the way up the mountain and reached the top while a wedding was about to be conducted. We hid ourselves inside the ski shelter and ended up ordering pizza from a place down below. The pizza was delivered up the tram. While waiting for the pizza and root beer, we found the old Star Wars movies and watched them in the shelter. Star Wars, pizza, root beer on top of Jay Peak!
05 and 06 jay challenge! Crazy man Dan Debrosiers 70 mile mtn bike race.
I've been up Jay Peak a number of times as a hiker, skier, biker, and this time as a runner. Great views to the into Canada (Mount Sutton, Owls Head, Mont Orford)
short day hike from the LT on a perfect summer day
Finished LT next day at Canadian border
but not at first.
