US State Highpoint 17/50Cute little roadside cutout, had lunch at the “summit”, signed the book. Lots of pine needles made it a very soft walk. As a highpoint, whelming, as a picnic spot, delightful. 17/50.

Peter! (#13)Stopped at Jerimoth Hill while out at WPI for work. I wish I had had more time to explore the NE more, as this was my first time here. Short walk from the road, but nice little wooded spot. I drove by it a couple of times, because there's not really a sign.

HP# 11Had a couple weeks off from work, decided to take a trip to the East from IL to hit a bunch of HPs. (HP 8 of 9 during this trip.) Just a quick walk from the car parked on the side of the highway. A couple creepy shacks next to the point in the woods. Ammo can with register. Couple different USGS markers.

Highpoint #1Started my highpointing journey in my home state of RI, about a 50 minute drive from home in Westerly. Of course, this is one of the more boring high points but a short walk and snow on the ground made it a little more interesting.

Creepy Vibe - HP#49 of the 50 US States for me.This high point had a creepy vibe with all the rotting ghetto sheds around full of junk. Made me think of the Blair Witch Project. Here is an idea, lets clean the place up and install a nice summit marker (plaque, monument) and a couple high pointer benches along with a covered picnic table. The world topo labels a spot at 843 feet, but I couldn't find anything that seemed higher than the rock we all accept as the 812 foot highpoint. Why no bench mark at the rock, if it really is the highpoint? I did find two bench marks on the walk in from Hartford Pike.

HP #4JUST made it before dusk. The gate was open, however, was closed within the 20 minutes I was in there. The HP is only about 100m off the road along a well marked trail. Completely missed the trailhead at first as I stopped in front of the brown highway sign marking the hill. You should be looking for the white sign mounted on a wooden pole on the opposite side of the road. On the right if you are coming from CT!

That was easyAfter months of training I was finally able to get to the top of Rhode Island. Fortunately my family only lives about 50 minutes away, so this was just a morning side trip during a Thanksgiving week visit.

HP #2!Traveled here during a mild snowstorm and roads were dicey (almost turned back)! But regardless, park at the side of the road and then walk about 0.1 miles through the woods until you're at the highpoint. You can only see woods from the HP...
