K9  Sucess!

Perfect weather day and great views. This mountain is seriously under rated and should be on the must-do list for local peakbaggers.

Winter Ascent  Sucess!

Despite the lack of any winter beta on this mountain, decided to give it a shot. Since the road to Tunnel Creek TH was snowed in, parked at a pullout really close to where the forest road intersects with the highway. Followed the road up to the Tunnel Creek TH and then followed that trail up until it intersected with the PCT at Hope Lake. Followed the PCT (as best possible) until reaching the basin below the summit. Our route of attack was from the east/south-east side. From here it was STEEP. I cannot emphasize how important it was to have a good avalanche forecast here because it would have been very dangerous otherwise. Lots of exposed slopes and really bad run out. Also, be mindful that around 5,900 feet there is a HUGE cliff that is very well hidden by a cornice. This is definitely a mountain that feels harder than it looks by the numbers.

On my birthday with friends. K9 was better than I expected. Tons of berries all day.

Twice In 10 Days  Sucess!

9/2/13: Ascended peak for first time ever. Party included Adam, Bryan, and Greg K. We then summited "The Hydrant" and Sopwith Camel Mountain. What a great day with friends!

9/12/13: Had a day off from work, and I had enjoyed my first visit so much (but had forgotten my camera) that I wanted to return, enjoyed the great views, and sign the new summit register.
