From Palenville  Sucess!

Did this as a winter day-hike from Palenville. The snow, distance, and elevation gain made it challenging enough, but as fate would have it, we upped the ante by making a wrong turn during the descent... Whoops!!

Autumn!!  Sucess!

Muddy hike with some scrambling on amazing autumn day. The leaves were brightest I've ever seen in catskills the peepers were out in full effect. 8 miles RT nice lookout from hurricane ledge.

Via Platte Cove  Sucess!

A less than impressive mountain with a considerable amount of erosion. Not my favorite Catskill peak for sure.

My first bushwhack  Sucess!

I walked up from Platte Cove in the traditional manner and then when I got to the snowmobile loop trail I decided not to bother finding the path up (I would have spotted it if I had gone a hundred yards to the right) and instead went two hundred yards left and directly uphill. I didn't spot any plane crash sites (they did have a chunk of one plane at the summit) but while doing some class four on the way up I found a bear's den (currently unoccupied). It was a muddy, sweaty day but for a Memorial Day, a very quiet day in the Cats. This was the first Catskill mountain I have been on that did not appear to have a 3500 foot elevation sign on the trail.

Thanksgiving-Eve Hike  Sucess!

Hiked up from Platte Clove Rd. Bushwack past 1st plane wreck to Twilight Park Trail up south face, pretty steep just below Hurricane Ledge, stopped for views and lunch. Visited summit, couldn't locate 2nd plane wreck. Descended Twilight Park Trail to the north to Long Path and back to TH. Visited Plattekill Falls across the road, beautiful 70ft falls.

from Platte Cove Rd.  Sucess!

Easy, pretty hike ending with a nice scramble up to the top. Hiked it in the rain. The flatter areas of the snowmobile trail were under water.

Kaaterskill High Peak  Sucess!

Climbed via the Long Path from Platte Cove Road. A pleasant spring hike in the Eastern Catskills with excellent views from Hurricane Ledge to the South. Very muddy along the snowmobile portions of the trail.

Great one  Sucess!

Have climbed this one a few times. It is one of my favorites because of the gain as well as the remoteness. The northern approach is gorgeous. Also, above the snowmobile trail on the southern side is a difficult to find trail that leads steeply up the south side, a fun section with a little bit of scrambling and the best veiws from the mountain. Just a fun place!

a summer Catskill hike  Sucess!

Perhaps I should have taken the northern side, as it sounds kinda fun. However I did enjoy this hike, though it had very limited views. It was rather wet and muddy. I located the path to the snowmobile trail, and herd path to the summit fine.
