Route Climbed: trail Date Climbed: November 12, 2005
A nice way to end our Ama Dablam trip. Beautiful views of Everest et. al. Probably the best mountain view in the world. Definitely going back to the area...
Route Climbed: Normal Date Climbed: October 21, 2005
It snowed about a half of foot the night before I hiked it so it was a work out to get to the top. Once on the summit there wasn't even a view of Everest because of all the cloud cover, what a let down. Better luck next time I guess.
Route Climbed: Normal Route from Khumbu Glaciar Date Climbed: Nov 12, 2002
Bring a torch/flashlight and be there for the sunset. One of the better ones I've ever experienced! A little chilly, but if you are even a little equipped, no problem to make the short decent in the dark in time for your nightly yak burger.
Route Climbed: Standard Date Climbed: April 22, 1995
EARTH DAY 1995- Incredibly beautiful & other than the lack of oxygen, this high point on the ridge between Gorak Shep and Pumori is not technically difficult (watch out for awesome wind gusts); however, the reward is worth every "o" starved step. It's worth the view looking "down" upon Everest Base Camp, and up to the S. Col and The Goddess. Take your time acclimatizing, as I was in great cardio-vas. shape, and I still got moderate AMS symptoms and had to cut short my planned trip to Base Camp.
Route Climbed: Normal Trek Date Climbed: Oct. 26, 2000
Summitted on my mother's birthday. She wonders if I was switched at birth, but I was concieved on the day Hillary summitted Everest.. My personal highest elevation, fortunate to have a beautiful day.
Route Climbed: Normal from Gorak Shep Date Climbed: September 30, 2003
I went in the morning and whiteout conditions didn't allow for much a view, but Kala Pataar is an almost "manditory" waypoint for anyone doing the Everest Base Camp trek.
Fun, and what a view. I'll reiterate, like everyone else, it's not really much of a 'peak,' per say, but that isn't any reason not to do it. It's more than worthwhile as a diversion if you're up that way anyway.
Route Climbed: Normal route from Gorak Shep Date Climbed: May 1987
Beautiful views all around, perfect day for photos and climbing/hiking. The trek through the Kumbu was also a highlight, as were the many Monasteries and wonderful people along the trail from the Lukla Airport to base camp of Everest. I bought a bottle of coca-cola for $1 near Gorak Shep at a Lodge(??), wonder how much it is now?
