Hello Karrar:

When the person drives up the Karakoram Highway, do they see wildlife? Seems like there would be some deer crossing the road,
or something???

How often does the road get "washed out," (obstructed with mud) and has to be repaired or reopened???

This is great! Thanks for sharing this with
us, my friend!

Re: Hello Karrar:

Yes you can see the wildlife, but the deer can see when you are trekking in the valley of Karakoram Range.
KKH is not only life line for the inhabitants of Northern Areas of Pakistan but is also a very important strategic route of the area. The KKH constantly experiences landslides, mudflows and avalanches, which damage the road. To keep the road open under such conditions entails a colossal effort by Frontier Works Organization of Pakistan. FWO was created in 1966 as a civil engineering construction wing of the Army Corps of Engineers for the purpose of building the KKH and its maintaining and operating it since completion in 1978.
