I did this mountain with my husband.
With Bob Bolton after Sawmill Ridge. Great sunny day.
Fun hike, great hut at the top for picnics and sleep overs.
I headed out in pre-dawn darkness because I knew I would had a long drive ahead of me later during the day. Even in the dark, this trail is well-maintained/used and easy to follow (with a headlamp).
Hiked this before the lookout remodel.
It was a clear day and the view was awesome, the wild flowers were spectacular!
In 1993. Great times here, took some pictures for a photo class at GRCC that I had to develop in the dark room....what a waste of time that turned out to be. I first saw the Butte in Explorer Search and Rescue at age 16. We were doing a training looking for a downed airplane. The sheriffs department threw down some airplane parts just below where the trail starts up off the old road (that you could drive it back then). Several pics at http://www.willhiteweb.com/washington_climbing/kelly_butte/washington_fire_lookouts_064.htm
I hear there is a terrific view from this lookout. Unfortuantely I was in the clouds here but it still was well worthwhile. Went up the gully option up and the new trail down
