standard route
One of the best designed trails I have seen in Arizona. One hour and forty eight minutes to the top via a series of switchbacks that never get too steep. Lots of people with dogs on the trail. Did some jogging on the way down.

Kendrick Trail
Hiked up the standard trail. Got a nice break from the monsoon with a very clear day and no clouds anywhere. Great views of Humphreys and the North Rim. I saw a very prominent peak in the far distance (NE) which I assume is Navajo Mountain (would that be possible?). Had a nice chat with the lady (Caroline?) in the lookout tower.
P.S.: Just checked the map, it is 120 miles from Kendrick to Navajo Mtn. and there is no other big peak in that direction.

Kendrick
Kiddo and I finally got to the peak after about 4.5 hours. Took us only 2 hours to return. Great well traveled trail. We will do this one again.

Kendrick
Great hike. Got into Flagstaff around mid afternoon, driving in from Salt Lake, and headed for the Kendrick Peak TH. Very enjoyable hike on a very nice trail. All but dry all the way to the lookout tower. A few patches of snow still around the cabin. Very windy on top. Awesome views out towards Humphrey's and Agassiz. After the hike hit up a couple of the local breweries in Flagstaff that night.

Kendrick Trail - Winter Climb
Absolutely beautiful day out - crystal clear views of the canyon, Humphreys, and south towards Phoenix. Followed the standard route to the summit as much as I could, but lost it a couple times due to deep snow above 9,500. No problem following the route from the trailhead until then. Had the whole mountain to myself all day.
Two things if you're thinking about a winter hike - 4x4 is a necessity if you want to get anywhere near the trailhead and bring your snowshoes unless you want to posthole your way to the top!

Great hike
2nd visit but this time it was with SP member redsplashman23. Met Gary who was going to open the lookout and Sammy the forest ranger who was there to help. Gary said to say hello to Courtney (cp0915) Once again, outstanding views from a great summit. Still snow to deal with near the summit.

November Snow
Hiked it with a foot of fresh snow. We had the whole place to ourselves. It was probably in the single digits at the summit...cooold!! We hung out in the Kendrick shelter for awhile and ate lunch there. Awesome start to winter!

Nice surprise
I finished up work in Flagstaff about 4 and studied the map to see what I could get accomplished in what was left of the day. Drove up to the south trailhead and started off at 5:25. Summited at 7:20, took a few pics and jogged/ran back, getting to the TH at 8:30. Excellent, unusually even grade all the way - 9.3 miles RT, 2,700' vertical. Got lost in the dark on the myriad dirt roads on the way back. The rising full moon saved me and I got back to Flag at 9:30 to crash for the night.

Kendrick
This is one of my favorite hikes in AZ. Nice cool forest leading to a good summit view and a fire lookout. Plus the cool old forest service cabin. Great for Spring or Autumn.

Hiked standard route from south.
The old cabin not far east of the tower is neat.

Before the skies opened
We had stopped in Flagstaff for the night and so I thought I'd grab Kendrick in the morning. Great plan and great timing as I just barely got off this outstanding mountain before the deluge was unleashed. I wonder about the five others and a dog, I hope they had rain gear. This is a hike I could happily repeat as the trail is one of the best I've ever seen.

Back in the NAU days. Nice walk up, great views. Gotta get back there.

Kendricks before the fire
The trees were so tall & healthy before the fire. I
remember a lookout person inhabiting the tower. Said
that Kendricks was some type of "Power Point," and the
other one was in Sedona. (I didn't feel any kind of
power, until I ate a granola bar.)
