Went on a mission trip to Kenya and then went to Tanzania to clime the mountain. We had 25 people in the group so we had to go on the Marangu Route. Personally I would have liked to go up over the glaciers but maybe next time. Due to the large group of climbers that hadn't climbed anything before it was decided to take 6 days to climb it so it was a relaxed and enjoyable climb. Especially with the porters cooking and staying in the huts. Not what I would call a real mountaineering climb. The views ware amazing. Made it on the summit for sunrise witch was nice. All considered Mt. Shasta Avalanche Gulch was harder than this. Also 20 people in our group made the summit and most of them had never climbed any high altitude mountains.
Umbwe is a very nice route going straight up through all vegetation zones and it is not very crowded. Wanted to do the Western Breach with overnight stay at the crater but one of our group of three felt a bit weak so we detoured to Machame and summited via Stella Point.
6 days up and down with a group from Manchester University. Definitely the best thing I have ever done, but summit night was hard!
Marango route with REI. Well organized and 11 of 13 made it to Uhuru Peak. Good climb, but cloudy, 10 degrees and wind at top.
Did the 7 day Machame route. Also went out with our guides in Moshi afterwards to celebrate our summit and had an amazing time.
Went up the Machame route in 6 days/5 nights. Kilimanjaro is NOT easy! Previous days to the summit are quite doable, even though I went from Barranco to Barafu in one day, but the summit day was grueling, and we didn´t even have it windy or really cold (-10 the most).
Lots of fun, although not as scenic as Mt. Kenya.
We are a group of friends of 12. 100% success rate. Machame route
Started off for Western Breach route, but change of plans due to inadequate camping gear. Summited exactly at sunrise. Good views but very cold.
5.38h at Gilmans Point, 7.05 at the Summit.
Extremly windy - freezing cold ! ! !
It was not easy, but it was the most beautiful place I've yet seen, worth every effort.
Made a great trip to Uhuru Peak
Felt strong and pushed the 6 day planned trip down to 5 days
Such an amazing trek and such a beautiful mountain. Would love to go back again some time!
Did the Western Breach via Machame and Arrow Glacier. Camped in the crater and explored the Ash Pit and Furtwangler glacier. Had perfect weather except for ascent of the breach. Lots of wind, snow and cold on that day. Watched the sunrise on the summit. Altogether one the best treks I have ever taken
Did the 7 day Machame route which gives plenty of time to acclimate. We were beating our porters to camp at times and we were on the summit by 5:30 a.m., it was way too cold and windy to try and wait for sunrise. Also my flash was frozen so I have no summit pics which is sorta sad. We went through the Marangu Hotel on a private climb which was really nice becuase we could move at our own pace. I highly reccomend spending the money on a bathroom tent, it was well worth the $140 and an extra porter.
Such an amazing hike. Many thanks to Tusker Trails. We took the Lemosho Route. Great feeling to reach the top of Africa with my dad and new friends.
Great trip. Did the 7 day option. Summit day hard. On way down guide persuaded us to carry on to lower camp than normal (saying it wasn't far!). It was blinking miles - we did 42km in all on summit day! and my left knee has never been the same since. Perfect weather on summit day - awesome
One of the most enjoyable trek I've ever done so far :)
Marangu route, good weather, ill on descent (something I ate!)
nice trip but the weather sucked.. didnt see anything from the summit.
