Umbwe Route  Sucess!

First three days featured some of the most beautiful and enjoyable hiking I have ever done! Day four was another easy hike. Summit day was a real slog in the snow, but we made it to the top around sun rise. Felt pretty good on the way down, so we hiked all the way out and finished early. If I did it again, I'd take six days up to be better acclimatized for summit day, and still hike all the way out the same day. As it stood, we did the whole thing in five.

Beautiful ascent up a now-closed route, my first big mountain. The trip was organized by Mountain Madness. I highly recommend them!!!

Marangu route  Sucess!

A wonderful trekking even on the normal "Coca Cola" route. The flora changes every day with the altitude, but there's always something to stop to take a photo of. We had gorgeous weather the whole week.
Easy climb to the Kibo hut, but not to be underestimated from there to Gilman's Point, due to the combination of altitude and cold. (I thought I would freeze to death.) From there it's easy again, because it's flat and the sun comes up. I will always remember that sunrise.
(A túrát a Baraka szervezte és Nádai Laci vezette nagyszerûen.)

Julsclimb09  Sucess!

Planned our climb for a year. What an incredible experience. All six of us made it . We took the Macheme route and used Good Earth. The whole company was awesome but extra shout out to Amani, Tumane and Bryson. A beautiful full moon and clear sky for our summit. Yes , it was difficult but pole, pole all the way. No Problem. We'll never forget this !

Machame Route  Sucess!

All 7 of our group made the summit. We did the Machame Route over 7 days with Kessy Tours. I highly recommend adding the 7th day since it splits the long day before the summit into 2 easy days. We had a clear sky with 5 to 10 K winds on the summit. Temp just around freezing.

Machame Route  Sucess!

Quite easy climb, we had no problems due to the altitude.
Fantastic sunrise at 6:00 in the morning on Stella Point (we left Barafu Camp at 1:00), before we went on to Uhuru Peak. Really breathtaking views on the top !

One of the easiest mountains I have walked to. The views on the summit plateau were stunning!

Second climb  Sucess!

Another climb for Downside Up, raising money for Russian children with Down's syndrome. And another fantastic trip on the Marangu route. Very little change from 1997 when I first came - accommodation and route much as they were; saw many of the guides we orginally had too. No snow this time though on the crater rim - in 97 there was about a foot of it all round the rim and within the crater itself.

Machame route  Sucess!

Technically an easy mountain, it's challenge is more the altitute. Fascinating flora, from jungle, tundra, desert to ice landscape you see everything.

Seven years after the first attempt, made it to Uhuru Peak together with my friend Rafa. Though suffering from cold at Gilman's Point, a wonderful experience.

Machame route

Together with Joost Gransberg and Jurrian Lucas, 6 days, great first 5000+ experience. faced quite some altitude challenges around 4600, just below Kibu. Beautifull mountain! Bring warm clothing and try to find a good guide ;-) (stay critical yourself, local 'guides' have different attitudes towards safety than you might be used to find in Europe etc, they are good people though!). Enjoy! Koen
