Kineo Mountain   Sucess!

Started at the TH at 5am. I was the only car for about 2 seconds in the parking lot. I didn't pass a single soul until the hike down. The waterfalls along 7 Bridges trail were in full song as the forest slowly awoke. The trail was well marked. I encountered zero snow or ice, but I did see a few lingering couloirs tucked away.

Kineo Loop  Sucess!

A nice little mountain. Got a nice break in the cold weather and snow to do this one. Did a counter clockwise loop that ascends the trail to ridge first, follow over to summit, follow ridge down, then take Seven Bridges trail down. Trail going up was almost completely snow free. The trail down had more snow and lots of packed ice, especially on Seven Bridges. Would suggest some light traction. Otherwise, better than expected views at the top. Would suggest for a light morning or afternoon hike.

Fun little peak   Sucess!

Lots of fire rings and campsites near the top. Looks like a nice local option for an over night in the national forest.

Did this as a long run figure eight loop, up from High Drive on the Bear Creek side, then up 667/Buckhorn until the intersection with 622A, then up Kineo, scrambling down the east face and meeting back up with 667, this time taking 776 down to 666. (Since the re-route). 11 miles.

Fall Colors  Sucess!

Originally wanted to just hike to the aspen "grove" at the base for the Fall colors, but decided that while I was here... Great hike, beautiful weather, perfect day.

Kineo from 7 Bridges  Sucess!

Nice hike from 7 Bridges through Bear Creek to the top of Kineo. Even saw a bear about 50 yards from the summit on the way down.

Plan B  Sucess!

Original plan was Almagre, but we forgot Old Stage Road was closed, but this was a nice alternative.

Pleasant Surprise  Sucess!

On a couple of occasions when it was stormy in the area of the peaks the late day lighting defined Kineo Mountain calling it to my attention. I would lose sight of it again when the conditions were more typical. So after a couple of those "sightings" I decided to find out what I was looking at and today I climbed it. The views exceeded my expectations.

Via Seven Bridges Trail  Sucess!

Not much left of Winter. Trail was dry with no snow left (at least not ON the trail). There is now a pronounced trail the entire way from the saddle just west of the peak.

Second Time  Sucess!

Seven Bridges Trail again. This time I found a faint trail that became a little more pronounced as I went on, at the base of the mountain. Took me right to the summit. Great weather, awesome hike.

Beautiful views  Sucess!

Went up Seven Bridges trail, then up the west ridge of Kineo. Beautiful views to the west from the false summit, and more beautiful views to the east from the true summit. Went down the very steep north slope of Kineo on the descent, just to be different. Jumped across the creek and hit the Bear Creek trail, then Cap'n Jacks, then the Buckhorn Cutoff trail back to GCR and the parking lot.

Rock Markers  Sucess!

Approached from the east side via buck horn. Trail dog keep me on route. If you look hard enough there are rocks stacked on one another going up the ridge and there is almost a path.

early snow  Sucess!

Up the 7 Bridges trail with the three dogs (Molly, Buddy, Cimarron). Back the same way because snow cover might have made the east ridge slow or dangerous. Gorgeous sunshine!

Just out of the way...  Sucess!

It was a nice hike up to summit, just a little out of the way from Mt. Arthur, which was where I was headed.

Great day for it!  Sucess!

Climbed up east ridge from the saddle off of Jones Park Trail just before it bends down towards the creek. Easy hike up a faint trail to the summit. Fun rocks southeast of the summit! Hiked down west ridge and back to the car via Seven Bridges.

Nice loop.  Sucess!

My wife and I started out at the Gold Camp Rd / High Dr parking area and followed Gold Camp Rd to a turn off just before the Seven Falls Trail. Once we met up with the Seven Falls Trail, we followed this to the aspen grove, took our right, and followed a faint trail to the summit. Nice views and we had complete solitude. Came down via Jones Park Trail and Buckhorn Trail.
