Kings & South Kings

Kings & South Kings

From the not-so-frequently-visited Yellowstone Drainage, this offers a unique perspective of the two highest peaks in Utah ---> Kings Peak (left) and South Kings Peak. Taken from the Smiths Fork Pass Trail about a mile below the southern side of the pass, the elevation where I am standing is about 11,600 feet (3,570 meters) give or take a few. From this angle (looking east) it sure looks like South Kings is higher but it is not. September 2003. Fuji Velvia.

Nice shot!

It is funny that South Kings looks higher, even from the summit of Wilson Peak, South Kings Peak still looks higher and is only 1/4 of a mile closer than Kings. Nice shot of a beautiful area!

Re: Nice shot!

Thanks. Makes you wonder if the 1966 satellite measurements are correct! Okay, maybe not. :)
