Overview

Kreuzschneid is a secondary summit on the eastern north ridge of Dürrnbachhorn and has no distinct culmination point. It is a long and near level dwarf pine ridge with some steeper rocks to the northwest.

This secondary summit is located between Wildalphorn to the southwest and Fahsteigenschneid to the north.

The narrow trail of the eastern north route to Dürrnbachhorn passes by near the summit. So Kreuzschneid is part of this route or of the whole northern traverse of Dürrnbachhorn.

Red Tape & Accommodation

See the Dürrnbachhorn main page for area restrictions and for accommodation.

Gear & Mountain Condition

Kreuzschneid is a hiking summit throughout late spring, summer and autumn. It is a moderate difficult hike on steep, mainly unmarked and narrow hunter trails. An ascent or descent via Fahsteigenschneid includes its northern rock face. That is a steep and wet rock climb, which is secured with some ropes. Nevertheless you need climbing skills as self belying is not possible.
