Kumiva

Wow thought I was going to have a nice spring hike totally misjudged how much snow there was thank goodness I at least had my microspikes. Made it 600 feet below summit to much snow it was up to my hip. So be prepared with snow shoes, however, a word of caution very steep, shoes would be challenging coming down.

From northwest  Sucess!

We went up a route that worked for us from the northwest side. My partner Richard Carey and I car camped near road that goes up over the pass to the Black Peak area. This was my 150th peak in Nevada that had over 2000 feet of prominence.

First outing of the (warm) season  Sucess!

Am not getting the 3hr car/car; our group of four took 8 hours car/car with about 30 minutes at the top. Of course, we were hip deep in snow for a good portion of that and slogging post hole to post hole did take some time. Amazing views and pleasantly deserted.

West Slopes  Sucess!

A nice and quick climb. The sand was still damp, allowing for easy cross country.

West Slopes  Sucess!

Hiked in from NV-447 on a cool morning. The sandy slopes were in great shape following a good rain a couple days ago, but the skies were hazy so the views were limited.

Climbed with bearbnz after work on a Friday --- left Reno at 1330, left the car at 1500, made the summit at 1650, got back to the car at 1810, got back home at 1945. Great peak with a great view! The Sierra Club DPS has put a register there....

A straightforward desert peak-start on the sand, scramble over a few rocks, and flail through the sagebrush. Fantastic views in all directions from the summit. Descended the drainage just south of Little Jenny Creek. Car-to-car round trip just over 3 hours, including a short summit visit. Arrived back at the car just as the last light of the day was fading.
