As part of a week long Alpine Course we climbed the Pigne. Practiced several techniques on the way down, such as crevasse rescue, emergency brakes in case of slippage on a snowfield and rappeling down the mountain
From Cabane des Dix
Cloudy, foggy and snowing, 7 a 10 cm fresh snow from the day and night before.
Sunny and clear sky when on top
from Cabane des Dix. Part of a mountaineering course. Superb views towards the Walliser Alps!
Climbed it during an alpine skills course, from the Dix hut.
Guided group - ISM course: Student alpine ascents.
Simple route with some glacier safety/crevasse rescue teaching
Normal route from Cabane des Dix.
Nice and easy from the Dix hut. Great views over the Zermatt region and as far as Mont Blanc though.
Fast and easy climb no dificulties.
Climbed it twice, as part of the traverse in 2005 and as part of the course. Good training ground for the beginner alpinist.
The traverse went on to the summit of the pleureur. After some snow this was really a beautifull route.
very easy climb.no route finding difficulties.very nice view.if the weather forecast is not so good u can try it.better then to sit in dix hut.
bad weather the whole morning at Cabane des Dix. But all parties head for the mountains, only we lazy four Swabians decided for a rest day and started at 3 pm for a little walk with ski. But the track was fine, we gained height quickly and as soon as we reached the summit, clouds lifted and vanished within some minutes. A very fine downhill through fresh powder snow awaited us, just in front of the jealous eyes of the dozens of climbers that had started too early that morning... One of my nicest memories of mountains of all times!
Easy climb from the Dix. Nice view over the Pennine Alps!
