Norhtwest Ridge
Headed that way to watch the USA pro Challenge bike race as they climbed Indy Pass. Decided to do a fourteener on the same trip, camped and the trailhead, did the peak in 5 1/2 hours then rode the bike to Independence pass to catch the KOM race.

Very Solo
Perfect weather. I didn't see a soul. Last register was signed two days ago. About four false summits are a challenge to morale.

SW Ridge route
Pretty nice day heading up from the West Winfield trailhead. The basin was a little boggy in the willows, but other than that pretty easy, and enjoyable hike.
Three attempts, first with my Father [stormed off], second and most harrowing experience with hypothermia in the company of Richard W. [who was the reason I survived the experience] and the successful third with my Father.

3rd ascent in 3rd different season for this one. This time with a ski descent, which was fine except for the exit in the trees which were getting really soupy, still a ton of snow up there! climbed/skied with Sam and Eric.

NW Ridge in winter
Got a late start and although we made great time on the approach the snow covered talus slowed us down after the alpine headwall on the NW ridge route(with a winter variation). Hopefully be back to tackle this bad boy via the Ellingwood ridge this summer.

Solitude on LaPlata's SW ridge
Love all those false summits! Beautiful sunny day, nobody else in sight. A little white frosting on the top, obscuring any sign of a register.

Southwest Ridge
I hiked La Plata with some Facebook friends. This was my second time on La Plata, and the weather was much better this time. It was sunny all day, and the afternoon storms gave us a pass. We started hiking around 7:15, reached the summit at 10:15, and got back to the trailhead at 12:15.
07/04/2010: Climbed La Plata via SW Ridge route. Gorgeous weather, nice views!

Standard Route from Co. 80
Climbed with Matt Jamison. Number 27 Official 14er by 14er.com. Seemed like a long difficult hike. Trail was tough to follow in the beginning. Nice Day.

I could never write a route description. Ran into some 5.easy trying to avoid the few remaining snowfields, but it was probably unnecessary. 4h30 from TH. Trip report
