A light snow made trail finding difficult at time on the way up. Easier to see on the way down. I only saw people at the summit, otherwise I ha dthe hike to myself.

Went up the Standard Route
A fun day despite not particularly great weather. It never rained, and there was no thunder or lightning, but there were plenty of low lying clouds which blocked all the views once we reached the ridgeline.
It was my son's first 14er, so regardless of the weather, it was a very memorable day.

NW Ridge
What a fantastic place to celebrate the 4th of July! We sauntered to the summit in a nice 3 hours and 15 minutes. [EDIT: Which is not bad for two old ladies, one with a pulled ligament in her left knee.] It was a beautiful day and I nearly fell asleep at the summit...until I realized I'd been laying on my camelback which drained into a puddle on the summit. So, which one of you is the young college intern who asked "Mind if I smoke?" at the summit? Partner: Deb.

Summit healed all pain
After failing the year before on Mount of the Holy Cross I was back to Colorado to claim my first 14er. La Plata NW Ridge route was it. I will never be able to forget the feeling of accomplishment I had when I finally reached the true summit. Words can not describe how beautiful it was. It sparked something inside me that led me up Huron Peak, my 2nd 14er, two days later.

NW ridgeBy far the most scenic 14er I've done to date. Beautiful views all the way up, spectacular summit. So, does everyone hike with their dog in CO?

Re: NW ridgeI saw six people today and 2 had dogs. So answering your question, YES.
