Hiked up La Plata some time in the mid to late 90s.
Via the northwest ridge. Spectacular!
With SPers Mccannster and JamesC.
Direct ascent of north ridge, great day, 8 hrs 15 min
First big climb of 2010, a great ascent of the North Ridge with Spers Alika and James C. Good outing. 8.25 hrs c2c.
Took a friend up for his birthday. Need to get back for Ellingwood Ridge.
2nd time July 21, 2013
Very nice mountain, great hike too, i'll do it again from different route.
Great peak any time of year
A light snow made trail finding difficult at time on the way up. Easier to see on the way down. I only saw people at the summit, otherwise I ha dthe hike to myself.
I've wanted to do this one for 3 years untill I finnaly summited a few days ago. Took a long time too, started at 5AM got down at 5PM and we were going very fast belive me.
Southwest ridge route. nice day with Nancy.
Last mile was a dousey! Great hike with just Shadow and I.
A fun day despite not particularly great weather. It never rained, and there was no thunder or lightning, but there were plenty of low lying clouds which blocked all the views once we reached the ridgeline.
It was my son's first 14er, so regardless of the weather, it was a very memorable day.
Beautiful hike with great weather. Views were fantastic!
Climbed with Ian on a great day. Hike back to the car seemed to take forever.
With another parent and a few boys of my son's Boy Scout troop.
Almost got lost in a snowstorm. Duchess did great despite the weather.
What a fantastic place to celebrate the 4th of July! We sauntered to the summit in a nice 3 hours and 15 minutes. [EDIT: Which is not bad for two old ladies, one with a pulled ligament in her left knee.] It was a beautiful day and I nearly fell asleep at the summit...until I realized I'd been laying on my camelback which drained into a puddle on the summit. So, which one of you is the young college intern who asked "Mind if I smoke?" at the summit? Partner: Deb.
Absolutely beautiful mountain and great route. I'm looking forward to coming back for the Ellingwood Ridge someday soon.
By far the most scenic 14er I've done to date. Beautiful views all the way up, spectacular summit. So, does everyone hike with their dog in CO?
I saw six people today and 2 had dogs. So answering your question, YES.
