Beautiful depth and contrast with the snow.
I'm always amazed as I live in a similar area with high plains desert and mountains, how varied the climate can be.
Thank you so much Roxy.
Talking about getting lucky! We had snow on the ground, clear weather and clean air for a several days in a row. On all my previous visits to Utah, always in winter, I had mostly bad weather.
Thank you for the visit, Roxy,
Marc - This is probably one of the best shots I've seen of the La Sals. Very nice.
Thank you Steve. I was lucky to have such a crisp and clear afternoon sun.
If you like this shot of the La Sal Mts, You may want to check out this one too.
Thank you for the visit, Steve,
Surprised you did post this one yet!
Thank you Noondueler.
I had forgotten that I had some Canyonlands pix. Well, I thought to post one.
Glad you like it, and thank you for the visit,
Amazing view. fantastic image... thanks for share
I feel lucky that I had such a nice clear day for this shot.
Thank you for the comment and the visit, Christian,
Nice light and yes, a unique perspective of the La Sal's.
gotta love Mars.. I mean Utah!
Well, don't mind a trip to Mars, but I'll take a trip to Utah instead.
Thanks for the visit, rasgoat,
That's another beautiful shot, Marc; thanks for sharing! My son (cdoiron on SP) and I are headed back to Moab and parts of Utah in a couple weeks, so maybe I'll have a couple pic's and TRs to contribute on our return. --mark d.
Thank you for the nice comment, Mark. I was lucky to have such a clean and crisp afternoon. The snow on the ground didn't hurt either.
I envy you guys going to Moab soon. I have never been there during the summer months, but one of these years I'm hoping to do
Thanks for dropping by, and have a great time on your trip.
I could not have asked for better weather conditions or timing. Everything worked out great. I took about a hundred shots. Many are as good as this one.
By the way, it seems that I have misspelled the name of the canyon. I will make the correction.
Thanks for the visit and the compliment, Cory,
Thank you so much Fabio.
It was only luck that I was there at exactly the right time.
You're freaking people out, posting this photo in the middle of summer! Let them know the date. Was it 29 December 2008?
Even the 12721-foot summit of Peale would be an unlikely place for snowfall in July, especially for any that would stay on the ground.
I am so sorry Day Hiker, I didn't know timing was going to be an issue. Yes, I did take this shot last December. I forgot I had taken about a hundred photos of The Canyonlands. Then I saw them again two weeks ago. I thought to post one for kicks, to share, and certainly not to freak people out. Most of my photos are taken during the winter months, because of the snow.
I will add the date to the caption.
fantastic picture!!!! just wonderful, the colours are perfect
Thank you very much, eikehugo.
I was lucky to be there after a snow storm.
nice visibility and perspective of distances there, beautiful view.
