Ladder at Kozia Przełęcz

Having traversed the gentler, north face of Zamarła Turnia the trail descends into the third col - Kozia Przełęcz (Goat Pass) - via an eight-metre-long ladder. Kozia Przełęcz ranks first of the four cols between Mały Kozi Wierch and Kozi Wierch in fatal accidents, probably due to the fact that Orla Perć is intersected by another trail here. (Deaths caused by slippery ground/snow prevail, but there have also been cases of a man who fell off the ladder while trying to take a photo and a woman guide who was killed by a falling rock kicked off the trail by some careless/clumsy person.) I saw only one hiker at Kozia Przełęcz but in summer the trail is normally crowded and the place can get packed with people.

The scary ladder...

The entry is not so comfortable (as I remember), care must be taken. However, this is a great place, just grab what can be grabbed and is stable... :-)

Re: The scary ladder...

Some say the exit looks even less comfortable, especially in the mist.:) Quite a famous place. I first heard of it from my godfather in the 1960's. I must have been scared while listening to his TR, but we can't rule out the ladder was less stable in those days.

Re: The scary ladder...

I have no memories about the bottom, so it probably wasn't that scary for me (although there was no mist, either). Imagining it being unstable send shivers down the spine... :-)
