Didn't know it yet but it was my last day on the main ridge of the Făgăraş. We had started that main ridge trek several days before at the east end of the mountains. It was windy and we were running out of food. Having passed Lăițel, we pitched our tents by Călţun Lake, but around midnight the wind was so high we had to seek shelter in the unmanned refuge, not completely packed with people yet. (We were not the last to come that night.) The next day we decided to descend and headed towards the Vidraru Dam.
